Biography
The Monos are a 4 piece indie rock band, currently gigging across the south coast of Spain. The band was formed and are based in the Torrevieja area on the Costa Blanca. Che, the lead vocalist, born and raised in Dublin, had been performing solo acoustic sets around the local music scene when he joined forces with Justin (lead guitar). From here the basic structure of the band was formed. After a couple of different drummers, Justin's younger brother Lee took over and quickly became a full member of the band.
Many different influences have created the heavy indie rock sound that the Monos have become renowned for locally. Justin and Lee, born in Co. Tyrone, have played in grunge and rock bands around the north of Ireland with moderate success. Justin moved from there to Nottingham, England where he enjoyed further success playing in indie bands.
The latest member of the band, Alex (bass), originally from England is relatively new to the music scene. He was a member of funk/rock bands in the south of Spain and caught the attention of The Monos whilst playing with one of the local bands. Very quickly, Alex was brought onboard to add another dimension to the Monos sound.
The Monos formed in 2008 have since played countless gigs, including outdoor festivals, in and around the south coast of Spain in the past year. Support for the band has been growing steadily over this period, and they can count fans right throughout Ireland, UK, Spain, France, Scandinavia and the Netherlands. Local papers and magazines, radio and television stations are increasingly becoming interested in the buzz that the band have created.
